Barn Talk: The next Sonoma Valley High School Barn Talk is set for Thursday, Jan. 16. The topic is 'How Sonoma Has Changed.' Sonoma Valley High School alumni Gaye LeBaron (longtime columnist for the Press Democrat) and Bill Lynch (former Index-Tribune owner and editor) will be in conversation with SVHS AP U.S. history teacher Andy Gibson. Posada at Prestwood: Prestwood Elementary's community Posada NavideƱa is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, in the cafeteria. There will be deep fried tacos and beverages. The funds raised will be used for ELD classes. For questions, contact Maribel at 935-6030.

Toys for Kids: The Sonoma Toys for Kids program is affiliated with the Toys for Tots program. Donations of new unwrapped toys in their original packaging are needed and can be dropped at Sonoma Market, Wells Fargo, Safeway, Lucky, Broadway Market, Bank of the West and Schell-Vista Fire Protection District. Concert: There is a joint Winter Concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, of the SVHS theater company, the Adele Harrison band, the high school band and the choir in the SVHS Little Theater. There is also a new SVHS tradition launching in which alumni instrumentalists will join the high school band for the final piece of the program, 'Sleigh Ride.' Winter break camps: Sugarloaf is offering Winter Break Day Camps on Monday, Dec. 23, and Thursday, Jan. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids ages 7-12 can join Sonoma Ecology Center's education staff and Team Sugarloaf for a day of nature hikes and learning about the creatures of the park. The day ends with s'mores and hot chocolate around a campfire. Cost is $20-40. Sign up at sonomaecologycenter.org.

Sonoma Gymnastics Academy is also offering a day camp with gymnastics, crafts, nature walks and fort building. Ages 4 and up. Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 for a full or half day. sonomagymnasticsacademy.com.

Free ice skating lessons: Kids can get a free ice skating lesson every Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 a.m., now through Jan. 19 at Union Square Ice Rink in San Francisco, and skate rental is free.
