Readers share thoughts on our homeless services, conservative voices and veterans at SDC.|

Helping the homeless

EDITOR: I am happy to see so much coverage on our unsheltered population lately. The way some people describe it, you’d think we don’t have a problem here. I was shocked to read we have 200

“precariously housed” people in the Valley (“Where do the homeless go in a storm?” Dec. 24).

With so many people in need, I am happy we have two homeless organizations in town that are doing so much good. It’s nice that they each have their own approach to taking care of people, and that so many needs are getting met.

There is still a lot of work to do. I am happy to see we have competent and capable people working on this problem locally. I hope they can find strength in each other and their community in 2022.

Happy New Year!

Is the emperor naked?

EDITOR: This is in response to "Conservative voices welcome” (Nov. 16, 2021).

When it comes to vaccine mandates, there are two groups. The first group appears to believe what they are told and just want to be led.

The second group prefers to verify what they feel skeptical about. They believe in personal freedom. They feel the "Tribal Badge" of masking helps to amplify everyone's fear and fosters division and fractionalization.

President Biden reminds me of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fable "The Emperor's New Clothes.” The questions in the book were raised about self-deception, conformity and obedience to authority. In the end, it took a common-sense child to break everyone's delusion, by simply shouting the truth, the emperor’s naked! Each person had a complex moral dilemma. Should they tell the truth and accept their own inadequacy? Or lie and save themselves from social ridicule? President Biden is our own dilemma, is he cognitive enough to be our president, or is there a child in all of us eager to scream out the empty naked suit?

Vaccine propaganda is pushed as the only option by Big Pharma and their spokesperson, Dr. Fauci. The building blocks of our immunity is virus and bacteria. If you shelter from natural fauna, you increase the risk of opportunistic infections. COVID will continue to mutate as any virus will tell you. Relying, and injecting improperly tested vaccines is delusional in long term.

I recommend Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s bestseller “The Real Anthony Fauci.”

Happy New Year.

Sonoma

SDC for vets?

EDITOR: The Sonoma Developmental Center would make an excellent rehabilitation hospital for veterans. One nicer than the hospital in Bethesda Maryland. Acknowledging what happens to our soldiers would make us less hesitant to do battle.

This could be a really wonderful medical facility, located in the scenic Sonoma Wine Country. Doctors from around the world could do six-month rotations. World class chefs could prepare fantastic food for the patients.

There could be hydrotherapy pools and a prosthetic lab. Doctors, nurses, students, and patience from around the world could come and enjoy the beautiful California weather.

The Sonoma rehabilitation center could be a world-class healing facility as well as a training facility. There could be surgical theaters, and it could be facilitated with the help of major medical schools and hospitals. We could do something really nice for people who were injured and need rehabilitation.

We don't need more houses. We don't need more traffic. A compassionate facility that provides healthcare for our veterans would show an integration between the actions and consequences of the military-industrial complex.

This would be in the best interest of all concerned. We can acknowledge our compassion. Let's take care of our people.
