Dragon golfing boys club Piner; Ballard, Minatta co-medalists

After dropping a Sonoma County League decision heading into last week’s spring break, the Sonoma Valley High School golfing boys’ came out swinging Tuesday at the Santa Rosa Fairground Course and got back on the winning track behind a pair of medalists.

Both senior Dario Minatta and junior Christian Ballard each posted the identical low-round score of 32 for the par-29 nine holes to earn co-medalist honors in helping the visiting Dragons overmatch Piner for a 186-241 SCL triumph.

Following Ballard and Minatta’s standout rounds for Sonoma were junior Cyle Gusse’s 38, senior Dante Monterosso’s 40, and junior Brett Sullivan’s 44.

The Dragon golfers, who returned to Santa Rosa yesterday to play league foe Elsie Allen – results not available at presstime – will host longtime SCL rival Petaluma on Tuesday, April 1, at 3:30 p.m. on the Sonoma Golf Club course.
