Don't clip Anderson's wings

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Was Darius Anderson’s hotel proposal so bad?

I think not.

We have lived here for 45 years and dearly love Sonoma. There have been many changes, but life is full of change. Not located within the city, we cannot vote, but I can make a statement.

I think Mr. Anderson is offering us a golden egg and I’m appalled that people are reacting so poorly. Let me relate a little incident.

A few years back, my husband’s brother and his wife from back east came to visit for a week. Because it was summer, all hotels were filled and I ended up securing them a bed and breakfast two-and-a-half blocks from our home.

My in-laws hated it. It was small, smelled of gas and the wife was terrified of the bugs on the shrubbery at their door. For sophisticated city people, it wasn’t charming or quaint. It was Hicksville.

I hadn’t considered that they couldn’t walk on our country roads (even though they were not disabled) and must have missed the bright lights, restaurants, movies, etc.

Don’t clip Darius Anderson’s wings – give the man a chance.
