Blessed are the animals

From dogs to chickens, all well-behaved creatures are welcome at this community event.|

St. Francis Assisi, the patron saint of animals, is celebrated in the Catholic faith on Oct. 4 each year. But over at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, new pastor Nicole Trotter will mark her first Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 10.

All well-behaved creatures are invited to come down at 11 a.m. to gather on the church’s patio for the blessing. Owners are asked to bring pets on leashes or in carriers to ensure all are safe.

The event will be followed by cookies and lemonade, and people of all faiths are invited to celebrate.

The church is located at 16290 Arnold Drive, Sonoma. Pictured here, Father Alvin Villaruel, from St. Francis Solano Catholic Church, blesses the pets at Pets Lifeline in 2018.
