A collaborative exhibition featuring the work of more than 100 members of the California Society of Printmakers is on display at the Sonoma Community Center. “Resonance in Print” runs through May 18 in Gallery 212.

The vibrant collection of book arts and prints showcases recent projects by the California Society of Printmakers. The society is a nonprofit dedicated to the advancement and appreciation of printmaking and book arts.

The society provides a supportive community for printmakers and ensures artists of diverse skill sets have equitable access to opportunities, tools and resources.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and by appointment on Sundays.

The California Society of Printmakers offers an artists’ residency program, an initiative launched in 2015 that has since resulted in 19 residency awards with two planned for this year. The program pairs artist members with Bay Area master printers who host and assist recipients in completing short-term projects.

Recent Artist in Residency recipients include Kent Manske, Sarah Klein, Donna Brown, Luz Marina Ruiz and Meri Brin.

The nonprofit also offers membership engagement grants and supports collaborative projects. These initiatives fuel innovative printmaking and help to empower artists to investigate new ideas and redefine creative possibilities.

The California Society of Printmakers artist-led projects include “A Dialogue in Print” with the Print Club of Rochester, “Confluence with PrintHouston, Extraction: On the Margins;” Erica Barajas’“ eMERGE” and Zach Clark’s “Ideal Engagements” and “Garland Variations.”

These projects help to enhance communities across the country and stimulate connections, exchanges of research and ideas in the printmaking field.

“Resonance in Print” features the work of many artists, including Carol Acquilano, Andis Applewhite, Arturo Araujo, Kelly Autumn, Marty Azevedo and Katherine Baca-Bielinis.

The society provides support for its artist members through exhibitions, artist talks, demonstrations, lectures, artist residences and an annual journal publication, “The California Printmaker.” Their archive is at the Bancroft Library at University of California, Berkeley.

The Sonoma Community Center is at 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma.
