Sonoma police responded to an alleged burglary at 9:50 p.m. on Feb. 25 when an intoxicated man broke into a restaurant at the 100 block of Napa Street, according to Sonoma Police Sgt. Scott McKinnon.

It began when kitchen staff at Tasca Tasca heard footsteps moving around upstairs. The staff went to investigate, and ended up holding the intoxicated man to the floor until police could arrive, McKinnon said.

Staff then learned the suspect had apparently wandered into the restaurant and stumbled upstairs after becoming lost while attempting to return to the Beacon at Taub Family Outpost, the upstairs cocktail lounge on First Street West.

Tasca Tasca did not want any additional law enforcement action because there was nothing taken, McKinnon said, and the subject was taken home by friends.

DUI

Sonoma Police responded to a suspected DUI at 6:46 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the area of Joaquin Drive and Sherman Court, McKinnon said.

The driver was described as a woman wearing a white sweater and jeans, and the reporting party said she saw her park and walk from her car toward Joaquin Drive. Deputies soon found a woman who matched the description.

Deputies observed the woman’s eyes were red and watery and smelled alcohol from her person. During the investigation, the suspect admitted to driving the car after drinking approximately half a pint of vodka, McKinnon said.

Deputies conducted a Breathalyzer test and recorded the suspect’s BAC to be 0.11, slightly over the legal limit of 0.08. Based upon their investigation and the statements made by the reporting party and the suspect, deputies placed the suspect under arrest for misdemeanor DUI.

Petty theft

Sonmoa Police responded to a report of petty theft at 10:40 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the 300 block of West Napa Street when an unknown suspect stole an unsecured $200 bicycle, McKinnon said.

Video surveillance caught the the incident, but police have been unable to identify the suspect so far.
