Winemaker of Kivelstadt Cellars to talk Jan. 12 in Sonoma

Sonoma Home Winemakers will host this lecture at the community center.|

On Thursday, Jan. 12, the Sonoma Home Winemakers will host guest speaker Sam Baron, winemaker of Kivelstadt Cellars in Schellville.

Baron has spent his entire life in the vines. Growing up in Napa, his first jobs were cluster counts and vineyard assessments. He studied wine in college where he obtained his degree in viticulture and enology. From there his winemaking journey took him all over the world. Being a potter as well, Sam’s philosophies regarding craft are that of a give and take between nature.

Baron joined the Kivelstadt Cellars team in 2017. He met Jordan Kivelstadt and they instantly bonded over shared winemaking and wine growing philosophies. As winemaker, Baron divides his time between managing wholesale sales, vineyard sourcing, production, and almost everything in between.

The Sonoma Home Winemakers meet at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St., in room 210.

The Sonoma Home Winemakers are a group of home winemakers whose charter is to promote the art of making wine and share information among its members. Prospective members are welcome to attend. For more information or to become a member, email SonomaHomeWine@gmail.com.
