Sonoma Art Walk returns on Dec. 6

Thursday evening downtown event opens with reception at Adastra|

Sonoma's inaugural monthly Art Walk event returns this Thursday, Dec. 6.

The monthly series, which launched in September, pairs local businesses and other community venues with an art exhibit of their choosing. Currently, more than 20 venues are participating.

The Sonoma Art Walk runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Attendees can pick up their Art Walk map, have a splash of wine and check out the resident artists; event organizers stress that it's a good way to mark a few gifts off your holiday shopping list.

This month's opening reception is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Adastra Wines, located at 5 E. Napa St.

The Art Walk is a partnership between the City of Sonoma, the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau, the Sonoma Community Center, Arts Guild of Sonoma, the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, and a number of other organizations contributing to the planning of the monthly walk. Participating in the art walk is free and information about the artists; an interactive map of venues can be found at www.SonomaArtWalk.org.

Some of the venues that have participated include Adastra Wines, Artifax, Arts Guild of Sonoma, Bump Wine Cellars, Fairmont Gallery, Frenchie Picnic & Provisions, H. Frank, Jean Edwards Cellars, Lake Sonoma Winery, Murphy's Irish Pub, Rancho Maria Wines, the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, the Sonoma Community Center, Sotheby's Realty, Corner 103 and Tiddle E. Winks.

The artists on display range from painters, photographers and other fine artists to more interactive demonstrations such as music, poetry or culinary arts.

Many of the artists will be on hand to greet people and discuss their work.
