Former federal and state prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, who investigated Donald Trump and the Trump organization, will speak at Readers’ Books on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Pomerantz will be at Readers’ promoting the launch of his new book, “People vs. Donald Trump: An Inside Account.” He has also appeared to discuss it on “The Rachel Maddow Show,” “Meet the Press” and “60 Minutes.”

As a part of the New York County District Attorney’s Office in 2021, Pomerantz spent one year interviewing potential witnesses and delved into the inner workings of the Trump organization.

The investigation led him to the conclusion that Trump’s business practices were akin to those of the mobster, John Gotti, and he gathered enough evidence to support his view that the former president should be indicted.

Pomerantz’s work was critical in the successful indictment of the organization and Allen Weisselberg, Trump’s chief financial officer, who is now serving time for tax fraud on Rikers Island in New York.

The book details the thorny considerations in prosecuting a former president, what it says about bureaucracy and the imperfect American system of justice, and where America goes from here.

The free event will be held at Readers’ Books, 130 E. Napa St., and will begin at 6 p.m.
