Butterfly and hummingbird garden seed giveaway takes flight mid-April

A new community outreach program will provide butterfly and hummingbird seed gift packets to local residents the week before Earth Day 2021.

Real estate agent Brenda McNeill, Sonoma Syrup founder Karin Campion Matoon and Sonoma Nature Club members and Sonoma Mentoring Alliance mentors and mentees have created high quality seed packages specially curated to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

The seed packages can be picked up at local businesses from April 15 to 25, 2021. For a full list of participating businesses, visit artofleisure.com.

Each gift will contain a mix of seeds ready for planting. In addition to the seed packets will be a complete list of the flowers enclosed, overall information sheet and simple planting guidelines.

“Both the butterflies and these very lovely small birds are treasured contributors to our larger ecosystem,” said Sonoma Nature Journal Club founder McNeill in the announcement of the program. “It is our hope that the community may enjoy their pollinator gardens in a spirit of celebration for spring and our mother earth.”
