Studio 35 presents “Meet the Artists” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at 35 Patten St. Jack A. Lutzow, a watercolor painter, along with photographer Don Strimbu will be featured.

Lutzow has a long established career as a painter, illustrator and graphic designer and has exhibited throughout California. As the official artist for the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge, Lutzow created a series of watercolor paintings of the celebration. Lutzow was also commissioned to paint a series of watercolors to commemorate the sesquicentennial celebration of Napa Valley viticulture. He likes the spontaneity of the watercolor medium and the vibrant colors. He has been accepted into numerous juried shows. In the 51st Annual Show of The Society of Western Artists, his painting won the Grumbacher Award.

Strimbu grew up in the Midwest but gains his photography inspiration from the beauty of the Sonoma countryside. Strimbu favors non-standard viewpoints, and leverages lenses that give him a unique perspective on his subjects. He strives to focus on the technical accuracy of his work – the depth of the colors, the clarity of the image and the detail the final print contains. He presents both in black and white and color. About his wine country subject matter Strimbu said, “...the light here in Northern California is simply spectacular ... I truly love this place and I want people to see what I’ve seen”.

Studio 35, 35 Patten St., in Sonoma, is across from the old fire station on Patten just off of Broadway. The artists will be available to discuss their techniques and methods. The public is welcome at this free event.
