The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, in partnership with Salon d’Art, is hosting the exhibition, “Impressionism to Pop Art: 100 Years of Printmaking (1897-1997)” in the lobby of the landmark Wine Country resort.

The retrospective showcases etchings, lithographs and pochoirs (stencils) by Renoir, Picasso, Warhol and others and are on view for a limited time exclusive engagement. Artworks are available for purchase.

These artists brought an extraordinary level of innovation and expertise to the art of printmaking, making every work in this exhibit a notable contribution to art history. Their works are now some of the most collected and coveted in history.

The exhibition includes “The Bather” series by Renoir, the “Flower” series by Warhol and the famous “Dove” by Picasso. The years between 1897 and 1997 were the most dynamic periods in Western printmaking. For these 100 years, new subjects, styles and techniques helped establish the modern impulse in prints.

Guests and aficionados are invited to enjoy “guideless tours” of the artwork using Salon d’ Art’s revolutionary beacon technology. This state-of-the-art system uses any IOS mobile device; the viewer is able to connect instantly and seamlessly to information about the artworks on display. Each beacon will be able to push designated information regarding its related artwork piece directly to their mobile device, this will allow the holder of the device to move from artwork/beacon to artwork/beacon (in the form of a “guideless tour”) and automatically receive the designated information relating to each artwork piece. No scanning, typing or awkward punching in of codes is necessary. Simply walk with your iPhone or iPad through the exhibit in any order you desire and the beacons will find you.

For additional information on the exhibit email or phone 415-362-3906, ext. 101.  The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is located at 100 Boyes Boulevard, Sonoma.
