Salvador Dalí works come to Cornerstone

Cornerstone Sonoma’s onsite SBHG (Sonoma’s Best Hospitality Group) Gallery became the temporary home for a collection of Salvador Dalí bronze sculptures and prints beginning on June 26.

The exhibit is presented in collaboration with the Dalí Universe, the manager of one of the largest private collections of Salvador Dalí artworks in the world. SBHG Gallery will offer free admission to view (or purchase) sculptures and prints from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, through the end of August.

Dalí Universe curator Bertrand Epaud is in Sonoma through the first week of the exhibit. The individual pieces are also available for private viewings by appointment Mondays through Thursdays by contacting sbhggallery@cornerstonesonoma.com.

“We are honored to house this stunning collection from the undisputed master of surrealism, Salvador Dalí,” said Karin Rogers, director of business development at Sonoma’s Best Hospitality Group, a local collective of small businesses. “Dalí’s thought-provoking works feel rather suited to the surreal times in which we are living, and we look forward to sharing these pieces with the Bay Area and our local community.”

Though best known for his paintings, Salvador Dalí was also recognized as a sculptor, writer, illustrator, filmmaker, jewelry designer and a wine writer, responsible for the 1977 “The Wines of Gala,” the surrealist's unusual guide to all things wine (which features California wine prominently as among the “Ten Divine Wines” of the world). He wrote extensively on the emotional experience of wine and its strong ties with art.

Cornerstone Sonoma is located at 23570 Arnold Dr. in Sonoma.
