MacArthur Place to expand art program

MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa announced this week of the expansion of its contemporary art program in partnership with Aerena Galleries and Uprise Art.

Home to a collection of art from independent artists around the country, MacArthur Place will kick off its next wave of featured works of art on Oct. 10 with Uprise Art's Adam Frezza & Terri Chiao -- a Brooklyn-based duo who highlight their use on play and experimentation through unusual colors and textures -- as well as works by Lisa Hunt who will demonstrate her screen prints and collage works on panel and paper from Dec. 5-11.

In addition to its artist-in-residence program, MacArthur Place is committed to highlighting emerging and established artists through a rotating sculpture series with local wine country Aerena Galleries. The hotel currently houses five pieces of sculpture art across the property, with the option for guests and visitors to purchase a piece they like before transitioning offsite. Tying into MacArthur Place’s natural luxury ethos, each sculpture blurs the line between the human-made environment and surrounding nature, featuring shapes made from organic materials.

To celebrate the sculpture series launch, MacArthur will be hosting an Aerena Galleries book signing event with co-authors Heather Herbert (veteran of Bay Area architecture firms) and Chase Ewald of At Home in the Wine Country on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Outside of the hotel’s curated art partners, MacArthur Place is also home to an expansive collection of hand-selected works of art – including more than 100 distinctive pieces – photographs, paintings, sculptures, mixed-media works and tapestries available for viewing throughout the property’s public spaces, expansive grounds and guest rooms.

MacArthur Place is located at Broadway at MacArthur Street in Sonoma.
