The musical entertainment at Tuesday Night Market on May 23 will be provided by local band Long Story Short. The versatile six-piece ensemble will start its set at 6 p.m., 30 minutes after the vendors begin to sell their wares.

In the interest of full transparency, Long Story Short features this writer as a vocalist and its guitar player. In addition, the band features Curtis Duff on pedal steel guitar, Jim Holland on drums, Marius Pelsma on bass guitar and Tom Wolfe on keyboards and vocals. Out in front of the band, as the vocal focal point, is Kerry Daly, powerfully singing her heart out.

Long Story Short was formed in the winter of 2018 and quickly began playing publicly. The musicians in the band all have many years of experience, and are in other bands, as well.

The songs music lovers will hear played by the band are covers originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, the Beatles, Los Lobos and Bob Dylan, as well as an original song or two. The driving force behind the song selection is a hope to capture the varied musical magic one could hear when listening to the radio, long before stations became so strictly formatted.
