Jazz at the Plaza

The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society has released the names of the four performers who will play, as Joni Mitchell said, “real good for free” in Grinstead Amphitheater during the upcoming Farmers Market season.

The four bands appearing this season are Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums, featuring Miss Carman Getit on June 11; Jazz Mafia, featuring Yvette Pylant, Erin Honeywell, and Solas B. Lalgee on July 9; Melecio Magdaluyo on Aug. 13; Roger Glenn Latin Jazz Ensemble on Sept. 10.

All shows will begin at 6 p.m. As always, there will be an additional, more acoustic band performing simultaneously on the Horseshoe. The final schedule for live performances at the Tuesday Night Farmers Market will be published once it is available.

Hometown Band Spring Concert

Sonoma’s musical pride and joy, the Hometown Band, presents its spring concert this Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Sebastiani Theatre. The big band will blast its way through a full program of march favorites, with an occasional pop tune thrown in for fun. This serves as a tune up for their big show on July 4, when they circumnavigate the Plaza once, only to magically return as “The Other Hometown Band” for another, slightly more raucous pass.

420 Day Party

Because this is California and because we can, Murphy’s Irish Pub is publicly observing “420 Day” tomorrow with a three-band line-up that includes the Back Porchestra at 2:30 p.m., Wildflower Weed at 4:45 p.m., and Sue Albano and Scarlett Letters at 7:30 p.m.

(420 Day is observed every year on April 20 when cannabis producers, advocates and consumers celebrate marijuana.)
