30 artists to participate in open-air show in Sonoma
Gundlach Bundschu Winery is hosting a one-day public, outdoor art exhibit. More than 30 Bay Area artists will participate in “ArtStanding,” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. ArtStanding is a new organization and this is its first exhibit.
Co-organizers Cat Francisco and Cheryl Ann Shanks launched the initiative to offer local and Bay Area artists the opportunity to show their art in places where it could still be safely enjoyed in person.
“People miss seeing art,” said Shanks. “I liken it to how folks are getting their hair cut or styled out of doors for now — clients need and want it, and stylists need and want to work, so they found a way to make it happen. Thusly, ArtStanding Pop-Up Gallery.”
The exhibit at Gundlach Bundschu will be set up in an open area on the knoll overlooking the pond. There are existing wooden walls to hang art, as well as open areas to have freestanding sculptures.
“With art as one backdrop, Sonoma Mountain and vineyards another, this event will be epic,” said Francisco in the press release announcing the event. “Moveable, open-air art exhibits offer local artists the opportunity to showcase their talents, to explore and to create at a time when we are limited to where we can safely go to view art.”
Respecting the parameters as the result of COVID-19, organizers plan to take all necessary steps to ensure a safe venue for guests to enjoy the event.
Reservations are required for a wine tasting and the art exhibit at gunbun.com/bookreservation.
