Jak.w. opens on Sonoma Plaza and it's not a tasting room

Jak.w. owner Jenne Kirscher Wicht has spent the last 10 years curating and procuring furniture, flooring and design accessories for clients ranging from Google to Intel to MacArthur Place from their San Francisco and Los Angeles showrooms.

After graduating from UCLA, Wicht got her start helping corporate clients realize that they could have beautiful residential furniture in their spaces – they didn't need to order generic commercial pieces. With tech employees working long hours, there was a real movement to make the workplace a more fun and beautiful place to hang out. Over time, the employees of these companies began to work with Jak.w. to furnish their own homes.

Last Friday, June 14, Wicht and her husband Adam opened their fourth Bay Area space, a studio and retail shop in downtown Sonoma, in the old Feed Store at 539 First St. W. The Wichts, who are both in their 30s, have lived in on the west side in Sonoma since 2013, and have two young sons. Jenne said they are thrilled to have a beautiful storefront close by and to serve their home market.

'Both of our moms have lived here for more than a decade and Sonoma is our forever home,' said Jenne. 'This is our community.'

The Sonoma staff, most of whom are trained designers, live in or around Sonoma and one of their longtime 'design advocates' is Sonoma Valley High School graduate Amy Dailey, '00.

The Jak.w. team represents furniture, flooring and home decor lines. They work with design firms like Gensler and CRI Design to provide furnishings to hotel, restaurants and corporate offices, providing furniture and design knowledge and logistical support for major interior design projects.

In Sonoma, their focus will be on home products that 'enhance the Sonoma way of life' and more residential than corporate projects.

The Jak.w. team describes themselves as 'furniture matchmakers' who connect designers with manufacturers for regionally sourced, curated collections. Their primary focus is on unique, hard-to-find, sustainable (ethically made and non-disposable) home accessories and furniture.

Their new downtown retail space offers a beautiful selection of pillows, candles, picnic blankets and vases in a muted color palate of blues, greys and tans.
