Applications open for Boyes Hot Springs affordable housing

Two affordable housing complexes in Boyes Hot Springs are accepting applications, although long wait lists are common as the units are in limited supply.

MidPen Housing, one of the largest nonprofit developers, owners and managers of affordable housing in Northern California, opened applications to join the wait list for its Fetters Apartments and Celestina Gardens senior housing community earlier this month.

MidPen did not respond to requests for comments about the wait list process.

The Fetters Apartments has an open wait list for a one bedroom apartment, which range from $668 to $1,337 depending on the household’s income. The property, which opened in 2017, includes a community room with a kitchen, a computer lab, laundry room, after school program classroom, community garden, shared-use school playground and a public bike and pedestrian trail.

The development, located at 200 Dorene Way, offers housing to 60 families and services such as: after-school programs for kids, financial capability courses, vocational development, health and wellness programs, computer lab assistance and connection to community resources.

Celestina Gardens is also accepting applications to its wait list from seniors aged 62 and up for one- and two-bedroom apartments. Monthly rental costs also range from $668 to more than $1,300, depending on the combined household income of the residents. The complex, which opened in 2020 includes a community room with a kitchen, community gardens with barbecue areas, fitness center, bicycle storage area, laundry facilities, electric car charging station, rood decks, walking trails, gated entrances and elevators.

The complex, located at 125 Dorene Way, includes 40 rental homes for seniors, as well as on-site services like wellness and quality of life programming.

Both properties reside on a master-planned, intergenerational community where people of all ages can live, work, attend school and enjoy easy access to transportation.

Until further notice, applicants can apply online or in person at the Fetters Apartments rental office, located at 200 Dorene Way. (No fax or email applications will be accepted.)

All applications will be date- and time-stamped when received. MidPen will run a lottery periodically during the application period, placing applicants on the wait list based on their lottery number. The first lottery is set for March 8.
