The Sebastiani Winery is again the location for the Zucchini Car Races, Friday evening, Aug. 1.

The popular event will celebrate its 26th year with celebrity judges joining the team of Scott Sherman and William Spencer to determine winners for speed and/or creativity.

4H member Hanna Breall, her brothers Sam and William, will again eye the bottom of the race track to help judges determine winners. Eric and Sandy from the Ortiz Family Farm also help with set-up/breakdown, registration and prize distribution.

Entries are categorized small, medium or large and challenge each other to make it to the bottom of the track. A couple of rules to note: entries can be no wider than 10 inches, and as for wheels there are no skateboards, skateboard wheels, roller skates or doll buggies.

Previous races have had squash entries fashioned as dragons, whales, penguins, clowns and even a mermaid.

Whatever your fancy, a decorated squash could win a prize for creativity or speed. Bring your decorated zucchini race car and a picnic to Arbor Park, Sebastiani Winery, 389 Fourth St. E., Sonoma on Friday, Aug. 1.Entries accepted from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Races begin at 6:30 p.m.
