Witchie Poo celebrates Halloween

The Witchie Poo Players present their 34th annual Halloween Extravaganza stage show, the 2014 “Witchie Poo Halloween Extravaganza: MTV (Monster TV) Music Video Awards” in four fabulous weekend matinees at 2 p.m., Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26, at the Sebastiani Theatre, 476 First St. E., in Sonoma.

This year’s program features performances by a fabulous cast of more than 60 Witchie Poo Players, ages 4 years old and up.

Bring the whole family to this Halloween Extravaganza, which promises an unforgettable adventure to Hollywood with our wacky, fun-loving Witchie Poo and her infamous sidekick, Lemmy who, as rumor has it, has a solid chance to win some awards at the MTV (Monster TV) Music Video Awards.

Hosting this star-filled event are The Wizard (Philip Sales) and Dorothy of Oz (Rebecca Hengehold) who will be presenting the awards. In addition to Lemmy and Poo, other marvelously talented nominees for these prestigious Monster TV Music Video Awards include the enchanting Witchie Poo Players; the mesmerizing Roger Rhoten, The Magic Man; the zany Cruise Brothers, Jake & Elwood (Bob Gossett and Andrew Spear) along with their Cousin Luis (Luis Contreras); the notoriously unlovely Count Flatula (Spencer Rank); and dazzling hip hop tap dance numbers, including “Monster Mash,” “Time Warp” and more, all choreographed by the multi-talented Mike Snider.

Don’t miss this year’s Halloween Extravaganza’s new blacklight number choreographed by Amee Alioto.

Come early so you don’t miss out on the special pre-show “Poo Orchestra” entertainment with that dynamo drummer, “Animal” (Rod Leeburg), the familiar, hairy, bright yellow monster, who will add his thumping and chiming percussive elements to the melee, along with the popular Bob Gossett on guitar, and keyboardist Cat Austin of ETC.

Many of these wonderful Halloween tunes, written by that spirited musician Bob Gossett, have been sung though the ages at this time of year by multiple generations of Witchie Poo Players, the first of whom are now in their near-40s.

Don’t miss the Halloween fun at these special matinee events.

Come to see the “spook-tacular” aura of Halloween decorations – the Sebastiani Theatre is now “in full costume,” thanks to the hard work, long hours, creative energy, and endless generosity of Susan Bellach, decorator extraordinaire. Come in costume for the intermission costume parade and a chance to draw for an array of prizes. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for each 2 p.m. matinee.

Advance general seating tickets are advised, especially for the second weekend, and are available in Sonoma at Readers’ Books and the Sebastiani Theatre. Tickets are $8 for children (12 and under) and seniors over 62; and $10 for those ages 13-61. Call 996-9756 to reserve your tickets now before they disappear like magic. VISA and MasterCard are accepted.
