Winter sports, softball, VOM trap club, SVHS cheer

SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s winter sports programs began their preseason workouts for the 2013-14 campaigns yesterday. Students who want to participate in Sonoma’s winter sports of basketball and wrestling need to have all their paperwork and mandatory current physical examinations completed before the official opening of preseason practices for that sport. Forms and paperwork are available at the SVHS student activities office Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

SONOMA VALLEY GIRLS Softball Association will hold three sign-up sessions for girls 6-to-14-years-old at the firehouse, 630 Second St. W., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, Nov. 12 and Dec. 3; and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. To register online, go to sonomagirlsfastpitch.com.

CAL-HAZE GIRLS under-16-year-old A-level softball traveling team will hold tryouts for the summer tournament teams from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov 23, at Sonoma Valley High School’s field, and Saturday, Dec 7, at Rancho Cotate High School’s field in Rohnert Park. VALLEY OF THE Moon Trap Club will hold its annual Thanksgiving turkey shoot on Sunday, Nov. 17, starting at 9:30 a.m. – five-man squad sign-ups begin at 8:30 a.m. – at the club’s South Burndale Road site, with a full turkey lunch available for $8. SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s cheerleading program is raising funds for much-needed uniforms and equipment for the current season. Anyone who would like to donate can call the SVHS student activities department at 933-4016.
