Volunteers needed at Tolay Fall Festival

Sonoma County Regional Parks is seeking volunteers for the annual Tolay Fall Festival at Tolay Lake Regional Park in mid-October.

Volunteers are needed to help with heritage crafts, games, wildlife exhibits, hayrides, pumpkin patch visits and other aspects of this event in the hills southeast of Petaluma. The 2014 Fall Festival runs for nine days from Oct. 9 to 19, with volunteers especially needed on weekdays when hundreds of school children visit.

Potential volunteers are asked to attend the final orientation at Regional Parks’ Santa Rosa office and may sign up for specific shifts at that time. The orientation is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Volunteer Coordinator John Ryan at 565-3356 or john.ryan@sonoma-county.org. Last year’s volunteers do not need to attend orientation. All volunteers will receive a parking pass, a festival T-shirt, and lunch on the day of their shift.

The Tolay Fall Festival is a seasonal celebration connecting visitors with the beauty and history of this special park through activities that are low-key, hands-on, and educational by design. The public is invited to attend on the weekends of Oct. 11 and 12, and 18 and 19.

School groups will attend on the weekdays of Oct. 9 and 10, and 15 and 17.
