Two suffer major injuries in Adobe Road wreck

Two people – including a Sonoma resident – suffered major injuries as the result of head-on collision Tuesday evening on Adobe Road.

According Officer Jon Sloat with the California Highway Patrol, at about 10 p.m., a vehicle driven by Ashleigh Sgrulloni, 23, of Sonoma, was westbound on Adobe Road near Frates Road when she turned into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Joseph Schenone, 56, of Rohnert Park.

Sloat said the vehicles collided head-on with Schenone’s vehicle overturning and catching fire.

Schenone suffered major injuries including multiple leg fractures.

Ashleigh Sgrulloni suffered what were described as minor injuries, but a passenger, Derek Sgrulloni, 28, of Sonoma, suffered major injuries and multiple broken bones. A 2-year-old child, Gianna Sgrulloni, was properly secured in a child safety seat and was uninjured.

All of the injured were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Sloat said impairment is not considered a factor in the collision.
