TSV, ReGarden Nation offer yard makeover

Transition Sonoma Valley, and ReGarden Nation, a local, nonprofit landscaping company, are offering Sonoma Valley residents a chance to win a complete “ReGarden Makeover” of their yard, absolutely free.

With scarce water resources facing the Valley, this is an opportunity for homeowners to grow their dinner at home and replace water-intensive lawns with edible plants and landscaping that uses water more sparingly.

Volunteers will help carry out the work Saturday, May 17, at up to three selected sites.

To be considered for this award, residents must submit an application by Wednesday, May 7. To apply, go to surveymonkey.com/s/BZ3V652 or go to the TSV website at transitionsonomavalley.org, which will also get you to an application link. It takes about 10 minutes to complete the application.

Applicants must also agree to the following simple ReGarden makeover Rules:

• Transform an area that is visible from the street.

• Follow through and provide any resources mentioned in your application.

• Be willing to allow volunteers onto the property to work.

• Allow volunteers to take photographs, and otherwise document the event on your property.

Winners will be selected by ReGarden Nation and the Transition Sonoma Valley Steering Team and will be announced at transitionsonomavalley.org, on May 12, and will also receive notification by email at the address provided in the application form.

The community is also invited to a kick-off party on May 16 to celebrate the Community Resilience Challenge, created by Daily Acts, a Sonoma County nonprofit organization helping transform communities by inspired action and education. Check the TSV website at transitionsonomavalley.org for details.

ReGarden Nation is all about connecting people with the food they eat and the land that nourishes us all.
