Theatre Alliance seeks proposals for 2015

The Sonoma Theatre Alliance (STA) is now accepting submissions for next year’s Festival of Theatre on the Rotary Stage of Andrews Hall in the Sonoma Community Center. Proposals must be submitted no later than Wednesday, Oct. 15.

“In response to annual surveys sent to our patrons, STA has made some organizational and procedural changes to keep improving our seasons and give our audiences what they want,” said STA Executive Director Jaime Love.

STA, now in its sixth year, acts as an umbrella organization providing support to its participating production companies. Benefits include financial support; sale of program ads to offset the cost of printing programs; front-of-house management to handle concessions and ushering staff; procurement of insurance; negotiation of advertising packages; production of a season brochure; and eight free rehearsals in the community center prior to the move into Andrews Hall. This past year, STA also hired a publicist to promote the festival throughout the greater Bay Area.

The STA season consists of three segments: spring, summer and fall. For 2015, potential producers must submit for consideration two plays for each segment in which they would like to participate. The proposal package should contain a detailed synopsis of each play (and a script, if possible) as well as a description of the technical requirements of the production – lighting, sound, staging, costumes, set pieces or props.

The STA board of directors is assembling a season development circle recruited from the community to review proposals and make recommendations to the board, whose members will select the season to be presented.

Proposals should be sent to Jaime Love, executive director, Sonoma Theatre Alliance, P.O. Box 539, Sonoma, CA 95476; or via email to sonomatheatrealliance@gmail.com.
