Stuart Creek shaping up

Work is continuing on Stuart Creek in Glen Ellen. Back in August, an old bridge and culvert were removed. The creek bed is being restored so that steelhead can resume spawning upstream. Built to withstand a 100-year storm, the final configuration of the reconstructed creek will feature a series of five 40-foot-long chutes and 20-foot-long pools that will provide easy passage and places for fish to rest. The 3.53-acre property will then be landscaped, with wooden tables and benches to provide a serene roadside picnic area for the public, with a trail, interpretive signage and three to four parking spaces.
