St. Francis graduates 25 8th-graders

Twenty-five eighth-grade students graduated from St. Francis Solano School on May 31.

Prior to graduation day, the students enjoyed a week of festivities that included events such as a dinner/dance and baccalaureate Mass.

Salutatorian Amy Stanfield and valedictorian Alexander Nogara both gave inspirational speeches. Speeches were followed by award presentations. The President Obama Award for Academic Excellence was presented to Alexander Nogara, Amy Stanfield and Nick Biaggi.

Muriel Owens presented the Daughters of the American Revolution Award to Reagan Cordero and Toby Hilliard.

The St. Francis Solano School Spirit Award was given to Amy Stanfield and Cian Martin.

The Most Improved Award went to Anna Zheng. Shannon Walsh and Cian Martin’s names have been engraved on a school plaque honoring them with the Saint Francis Solano School Award; these two students represent the ideals and standards of the school: Christ-centered, concerned for pursuing academic excellence, focus, and initiative.

Two scholarships were given. Shannon Walsh received the Justin-Siena Scholarship Award and Toby Hilliard received a Scholarship Award given by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The graduates will be attending Justin-Siena High School or Sonoma Valley High School.
