The Sonoma Valley High Lady Dragon golfers ended their season on Oct. 12, with the Vine Valley Athletic League Tournament at Oakmont.

Jacqueline Torres, who shot 108, and Sammie Pencil who shot 112, were the only two Lady Dragons competing in the 18-hole, par 63 tournament because it conflicted with Sonoma’s Homecoming.

The Lady Dragons dropped their final match to Petaluma on Thursday, Oct. 11. Petaluma shot 263 while Sonoma checked in with a 353.

For Sonoma, Sammie Pencil shot a 66, Emily Molina shot 68, Gabby Kutza and Monzerrat Morales shot 72s, Naomi Aho shot a 75 and Athena Curiel finished with an 81.

For Petaluma, Lili Catarozoli was the medalist shooting a 46, Channing Mathews shot a 50, Maya Brooks shot a 52, Kalea Howe shot a 56 while Olivia Zimmerman and Simone Smith carded 59s.

Petaluma ended league play undefeated at 12-0 while Sonoma ended with 2-10 record.

“It was a fun year of learning for the SVHS girls golf team,” said Coach Walt Williams. “While there were some challenges with the new league, overall the girls played hard and had a good time. We’re looking forward to next year.”
