Sonoma water polo hosts Cardinal Newman Tuesday

The Sonoma Valley High water polo team had a mixed week with the boys splitting matches with American Canyon and Vintage while the girls lost to both.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the boys beat American Canyon decisively, 18-1 while the girls dropped a squeaker, 11-13.

Vintage swept both teams on Thursday, Oct. 11, beating the boys 7-16, and the girls 6-13. The JV boys also lost, 8-17.

Assistant Coach Matt Wales said that Dominic Fiorito had a couple of great games while Sofia Portello continues to lead the girls. “Both had multiple goals in both games,” Wales said.

The teams will host Newman today, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Sonoma Aquatic Club. Thursday, they’re on the road to face Napa High.
