SVHS tennis boys top El Mo, 5-2

The Dragon tennis boys Wednesday swept the singles matches against El Molino on their way to a 5-2 win.

“This was a good win for the Dragons,” said Coach Walt Williams. “After sweeping the singles, all three doubles teams went three sets.”

In singles action, at number one, Carlos Rubio shut out El Molino’s Jolly Greer, 6-0 and 6-0; at two, Trevor Griggs-Demmin topped El Molino’s William Degroot, 6-4 and 6-1; at three, Sam Weisiger beat El Mo’s Jahmye Daly, 6-3 and 6-4; and at four, Andrew McKale defeated El Mo’s Quaid Capurro, 7-5 and 6-1.

In doubles action, at number one, Nace Momsen and Reed Hewitt beat El Mo’s Patrick Palmer and Ryan Palmer, 2-6, 6-2 and 7-5; at two, El Mo’s Avery Cavello and Adolpho Memorial defeated Julian Hewitt and Dominik Garcia, 6-4, 4-6 and 7-5; while at number three, El Mo’s Ziven Posner and Luca Pinetti topped Jackson Zyskowski and Mason Cox, 3-6, 6-1 and 10-8 (tiebreaker third set because of time).

“We are looking forward to a rematch with El Mo today (Thursday) then a busy rain make-up schedule with matches every day next week,” said Williams.

The Dragons played El Molino Thursday, results not available at press time. Next week, the Dragons are busy as they’re at Analy on Monday, host Analy on Tuesday and host Petaluma on Wednesday.

Next Thursday and Friday, the Dragons will be competing in the Sonoma County League tournament at SRJC.
