Lady Dragons demolish El Molino

Softballers pound out 23 hits in 24-zip victory; game ended after 4-1/2 innings.|

Ally Alcayaga hit two home runs and drove in nine runs Tuesday, as the Sonoma Valley High softball Dragons trounced El Molino 24-0.

The game was called after 4-1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.

The Lady Dragons put up a 10-spot in the first inning and added eight more in the second.

Altogether, the Lady Dragons pounded out 23 hits as everyone who started had at least two hits.

Ally Alcayaga had four hits, Jaya Garcia, Jordyn Chiotti and Kennedy Midgley each had three hits, while Jaymee Pearce, Abby Alcayaga. Kayla Beals, Kaliyah Hensic and Lyndsey Lee each had two hits.

In addition to Ally Alcayaga’s nine RBIs, Beals had four, Pearce, Abby Alcayaga, Garcia and Lee had two apiece and Hensic and Midgley had one each. Abby Alcayaga and Midgley split the pitching duties giving up but one hit, walking three and striking out five. Midgley gets the win.

The victory gives the Lady Dragons a 4-9 overall record and a 4-1 mark in SCL play.

Sonoma was scheduled to play Analy on Thursday, results not available at press time. The Lady Dragons have a non-conference game at Ukiah on Saturday. Next week, the Lady Dragons play at Petaluma on Tuesday, host Piner in Thursday and host a non-conference game with Drake on Friday.
