Dragon swimmers hammer ’Hounds

Eight Dragon swimmers get two individual event wins|

The Sonoma Valley High swimming Dragons continue their march toward the Sonoma County League meet in late April.

Thursday, the both Dragon teams crushed the Healdsburg Greyhounds – the girls winning 135-31, while the boys won 126-40.

For the girls, double winners included Kathryn Ajax in the 200 free in a time of 2:11.78, and the 500 free (5:54.04); Maya Grajczyk in the 200 IM (2:28.91) and the 100 fly (1:08.88); Charlotte Hunter in the 100 free (58.55) and the 100 breast (1:13.32); and Abby Parr in the 50 free (27.16) and the 100 back (1:07.9).

Sonoma also won the 200 Medley Relay with Parr, Hanna Wales, Grajzcyk and Hunter in 2:03.16; the 200 free relay with Ajax, Hunter, Grajczyk and Wales (1:52.89) and the 400 free relay with Parr, Ajax, Isabella Dedmore and Toni Arzaga (4:30.66).

Double winners for the boys were Mario Coronado in the 200 free (2:17) and the 500 free (6:28.27); Ethan Smith in the 200 IM (2:22.83) and the 100 back (1:07.59); Dominic Fiorito in the 50 free (23.54) and the 100 free (53.93); and Jason Pine in the 100 fly (1:06.58) and the 100 breast (1:18.39).

The boys also swept the relays, the 200 Medley Relay with Jack Yeats, Chris Berger, Dane Paulson and James Greenslade (2:05.11); the 200 free relay with Fiorito, Coronado, Smith and Pine (1:40.17) and the 400 free relay with Fiorito, Smith, Paulson and Pine (3:47.32).

The swimmers are off until Thursday, April 12, when they host Analy. Sonoma has two meets the following week, Tuesday, April 17 at St. Helena, and Thursday, April 19, when they host Petaluma.

The final SCL meet will be held Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28 at the SRJC pool.
