The Lady Dragon spikers swept the Elsie Allen Lobos on Tuesday, winning 3-0.

The scores were 25-12, 25-5 and 25-11.

“It was an all-around great team effort,” said coach Rand Rognlien. “What we’re working on in practice is transferring nicely into our matches.”

Last Thursday, Sept. 7, the Lady Dragons beat the Piner Prospectors, 3-1. Sonoma won the first two sets, dropped the third and then came back to win the fourth set for the win.

Senior Gigi Girish led the team with a dozen kills while senior Kiana Janson and senior Layla Schoeningh each had 10. Schoeningh also had five serving aces.

“We had our best hitting match of the year with 40 percent kills, combined with the most serving aces in a match at 16,” Rognlien said. “It was our third match in a row after back-to-back wins the two previous nights, and the girls showed great stamina in a solid team win.”

The Lady Dragons were a Petaluma Thursday for an early season test, results not available at presstime.

Sonoma will be participating in the 12-team Napa Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Dragons are off next Tuesday, but will host El Molino on Thursday, Sept. 21.
