NHRA auction funds kids charities

NHRA race fans can bid on race-weekend experiences and collectibles in advance of the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals race weekend during the Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) online charity auction.

The auction features VIP experiences with current NHRA drivers and teams, autographed collectibles and a piston signed by Ron Capps. The online auction is currently available at sccauctions.com and ends at noon PST on Wednesday, July 26. The auction is open to all race fans, including those who still need to purchase tickets for race weekend, July 28-30, at Sonoma Raceway.

• Exclusive Don Schumacher Racing Hospitality Experience;

• VIP NHRA Race-Day Experience;

• Ron Capps autographed 2016 Funny Car Champion hat;

• Antron Brown autographed 3x Champion T-shirt;

• Ron Capps autographed crew shirt;

• Antron Brown autographed crew shirt;

• Piston autographed by Ron Capps.

All proceeds from the auction benefit the Sonoma chapter of SCC, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway, which is dedicated to helping children in need in Sonoma County and has distributed more than $5.6 million to qualified youth groups since 2001. Speedway Children’s Charities will also sell tickets for its “Let’s Go Karting” raffle during NHRA weekend, offering the chance to win a private karting day on Sonoma Raceway’s three-quarter mile professional kart track. You and up to 20 friends can enjoy a day filled with karting fun, including professional driving instruction, karts, fire suits and helmets for participants. Tickets are $5 each or a book of five for $20. Tickets can be purchased during race weekend at the Ticket Pit Stop located behind the Main Grandstand, online at speedwaycharities.org/events/sonoma/lets-go-karting or by contacting Cheri Plattner at 933-3950 or cplattner@SonomaRaceway.com. The winning ticket will be chosen on Oct. 5; need not be present to win.
