NASCAR auction benefits charity

Race fans can bid on unique experiences and signed NASCAR collectibles, all in the name of charity, prior to the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Sonoma Raceway.

This year’s Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) online auction, which launched earlier this week at sccauctions.com, is highlighted by a Ride of a Lifetime Experience with NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who will retire at the end of the 2017 season. Signed items from Daytona 500 winner Kurt Busch and NASCAR Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip are also sure to be popular.

The online format opens the auction to all race fans, including those who still need to purchase tickets for race weekend, and will run through Wednesday, June 21.

Fans can now bid on packages and experiences, including:

Ride of a Lifetime: Fans can bid on the chance to be part of driver introductions with one of 16 different NASCAR drivers. Drivers on the auction block include Kyle Busch, Daniel Suarez, Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick and more. Winning bidders ride around the 10-turn road course with their driver in the back of a Toyota Tundra during the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Pre-Race Show.

Day in the Life of FOX Sports Pit Reporter Jamie Little:

The winning bidder will enjoy the Toyota/Save Mart 350 trackside with FOX Pit Reporter, Jamie Little, and follow her high-speed work throughout the entire race and maybe end up in victory lane with her. Little will answer questions and will pose for a picture and also sign an autograph. Speedway Children’s Charities will provide you with a headset and scanner so you can follow all of the action. Package does not include race tickets, which are required for track admission. Winning bidder must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check.

Redwood Deck VIP Package:

The winning bidder will enjoy a weekend in shade and style at the Real. Strong. Humboldt Redwood Deck., located above Turn 2 of the road course at Sonoma Raceway. This club-level experience features exclusive concessions, closed-circuit TV and sweeping views of the track and Sonoma Valley. This package includes two weekend access passes for the Real. Strong. Humboldt Redwood Deck; two weekend reserved-seat tickets in Turn 2 with access to the Humboldt Redwood Deck, reserved parking pass and two pre-race passes.

NASCAR Collectibles:

Kurt Busch autographed Daytona 500 Champion hat,

Autographed Darrell Waltrip custom-made chrome helmet,

Hand-crafted redwood workbench,

Darrell Waltrip autographed and framed 1991 crash photo.

SCC will also sell tickets for its “Let’s Go Karting” raffle during NASCAR weekend, offering the chance to win a private karting day on Sonoma Raceway’s three-quarter mile professional kart track. You and up to 20 friends will enjoy a day filled with karting fun, including professional driving instruction, karts, fire suits and helmets for participants. Drivers must be 13 years of age or older and 4-feet 10-inches in height. Tickets are $5 each or a book of 5 for $20. Tickets can be purchased during race weekend at the Ticket Pit Stop located behind the Main Grandstand or by contacting Cheri Plattner at 933-3950 or cplattner@SonomaRaceway.com. The winning ticket will be chosen on Oct. 5; need not be present to win.

All proceeds from the auction and raffle benefit the Sonoma chapter of SCC, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway. The Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is dedicated to helping children in need in Sonoma County and has distributed more than $5.6 million to qualified youth groups since 2001. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to Sonoma Raceway, June 23-25, for the Toyota/Save Mart 350. The weekend will mark the final NASCAR Cup race in wine country for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit sonomaraceway.com.
