In their final tune-up before the Sonoma County League Tournament, the Sonoma Valley High baseball Dragons Friday got a three-hit shut out from pitcher Shane O’Malley on their way to beating Healdsburg, 2-0.

Sonoma put single runs on the board in the first and third innings as O’Malley shut down the Greyhound bats scattering three hits, striking out 10 and not walking anyone.

Seniors Eric Bailey and Colton Mertens each had two hits while O’Malley, junior Dylan Samaniego and sophomore Max Handron each had a hit. Mertens and O’Malley drove in the Dragons’ two runs.

The win gives the Dragons a 14-9 overall record and an 8-4 SCL mark. Next up for the Dragons is the SCL Tournament this week at Arnold Field.

The tournament gets underway Tuesday at 7 p.m. and pits number one Analy against number four Piner. Wednesday at 7 p.m., the number three Dragons face number two Petaluma.

And the championship game is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday featuring the winner of Analy-Piner facing the winner of the Petaluma-Sonoma matchup.
