Tennis boys trip Healdsburg

SCL tourney next Thursday and Friday|

The Sonoma Valley High boys’ tennis team Tuesday beat Healdsburg, 5-2.

The Dragons took three of four singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

“It was another tough match against the Hounds,” said Coach Walt Williams. “Three out of the four singles went three sets and could have gone either way. The boys are ready for Petaluma on Thursday.”

In singles play, number one senior Matt McKale beat Patrick Doran, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), and 6-3; at number two, Healdsburg’s Parker Brem topped sophomore Erik Serbicki, 3-6, 6-2 and 6-2; at number three, senior Liam Handron defeated. Will Hambly, 6-1 and 6-3; and number four, senior Elias Sosa-Mercado beat Teo Tomerlin, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-3.

In doubles play, Sonoma’s number one team of sophomore Sam Weisiger and freshman Andrew McKale beat Judah Naujukas and Emmet Dobson, 6-0 and 6-3. Healdsburg’s number two team of John Dorr and Aiden Whitlock defeated sophomore Silvan Kopp and senior Ben Finley, 6-4 and 7-6 (9-7); while Sonoma’s number three team of senior Javier Rico and senior Corbin Cook topped Evan Linegar and Tate Dobson, 6-1 and 6-0.

In exhibitions, junior Nase Momsen and sophomore Tristan Anderson beat Healdsburg’s Tristan Brodrick and Kevin Trebilcock, 0-6, 6-1, (10-2) third set tiebreaker; and senior Nazir Lyle and senior Mac Scott defeated Jamison Lumetta and Tony Ibarra, 6-3 and 7-6 (7-2).

The Dragons ended their regular season Thursday when they faced Petaluma, results not available at press time.

Next up is the Sonoma County League tournament Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28, at the SRJC courts in Santa Rosa.
