New girls fast-pitch team formed

16/18U team starts play in June|

Sonoma Stack Softball has a new 16/18U team that will begin play in June.

Managed by Mike Fanucchi who is assisted by a staff that includes Javier Hernandez, pitching coach Teanne Edens, catching coach Hannah Flynn and infield coaches Stacey Ottolini and Allison Andrews.

Tryouts were held back in December and the team includes Alauna Rico, 18, Casa Grande H.S.; Gabriella Fanucch, 18, Sonoma Valley H.S.; Zoe Danner, 17, Vintage H.S.; Siera Montenegro, 17, Healdsburg H.S.; Regina Faalelea, 16, Clearlake H.S.; Jaya Garcia, 16, Sonoma Valley H.S.; Lyndsey Lee, 16, Sonoma Valley H.S.; Julia Mooney, 16, Upperlake H.S.; Raquel Hernandez, 16, Sonoma Valley H.S.; Madison Ferguson, 16, Clearlake H.S.; Audrey Castillo, 15, Sonoma Valley H.S.; Heather Sterling, 15, Cloverdale H.S.; Kayla Beals, 15, Sonoma Valley H.S.; and Lane Hughes, 14, Cloverdale H.S.

Fanucchi said the goal to be highly competitive and expose northern California girls to college coaches while developing a tight bond and chemistry among the players.

The Sonoma Stack organization is all-volunteer and focuses on academics as well as a commitment to be the best athlete possible.

“We still have two pitching positions still open for the spring season and we’re eager to accept tryouts to complete the team,” Fanucchi said.

The Stack softball team will start five to six tournaments in June and finish the season in mid-August.
