Sonoma Valley baseball boys fall to Napa, 11-7

Came within reach until final double-play|

The Sonoma Valley Dragons lost Friday’s home game against Napa by a score of 11-7, and continue to struggle to remain competitive in league play.

The Napa Indians jumped off to a five-run lead in the top of the first, on the back of seven hits from their first ?eight batters.

Though the Dragons scored single runs in the second and third, Napa had increased their lead to 8-2 after the third inning,

The big inning for the Sonoma Valley team came in the sixth, on five walks, an error, a double and a single to produce five runs.

The bases were loaded with no one out when Napa’s fourth pitcher Charles Gravett came in to end the rally with two strike-outs and a comebacker.

The Dragons managed to scare the Indians even into the bottom of the sixth, with what turned out to be the final score on the board.

Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases, again with no outs. But a strikeout and double-play ended the game as night fell at Arnold Field.

The Dragons next game doesn’t come until Saturday, March 25, against Ukiah at Arnold Field.
