Opening Ceremony for Sonoma Little League, March 17

Up to 400 kids and at least that many parents showed up at Hughes Field on Friday, March 17, to kick of the coming season of Sonoma Little League baseball.

After opening remarks, the members of the teams paraded onto the newly-reconditioned field, and lined up behind the runners' paths between the bases, dressed in their jerseys but bare-headed as they were awaiting the day's highlight: the issuance of the team caps, presented by league president Jay Gruendle.

The first games followed the next day, and the season will continue until the first weekend in June. Games are played at Hughes and Teeter fields on First Street East, and Paul's Field on Verano Ave. To follow the league, visit www.sonomalittleleague.com.
