10 Dragon wrestlers qualify for NCS meet

Sonoma finishes second to Petaluma in SCL meet|

Sonoma Valley High will be sending 10 wrestlers to Saturday’s North Coast Section tournament in Hayward.

The 10 qualified Saturday by finishing in the top three in the Sonoma County League tournament in Sonoma’s Pfeiffer Gym.

Four Dragons won their weight class as Sonoma finished second, 22 points behind Petaluma. Petaluma wound up with 235 points, Sonoma had 213, Healdsburg had 170, El Molino had 96, Elsie Allen had 66.5, Analy had 54 and Piner had 28.

The winners for Sonoma included sophomore Ryan Sherwood at 147 pounds, sophomore Tyler Winslow at 174, senior Noah Bartolome at 182 and senior Aiden Van Heerden at 195.

Finishing second, and qualifying, were freshman Ean Schiffman at 122, sophomore Macklyn Liss at 128, junior Nick Biaggi at 162, junior Dean Dunham at 222 and sophomore Gianni Palacio at heavyweight. Also qualifying was sophomore Andrew Beatty who finished third at 140.
