Spiker star Mak to be a Shocker

Signs letter of intent with Wichita State|

Lady Dragon volleyball star senior Jenna Mak has accepted a full ride scholarship with Missouri Valley Conference power Wichita State University.

Mak, who is the two-time Sonoma County League Most Valuable Player, will play libero – a defensive specialist. She will redshirt her freshman year.

Wichita State is a Division I school and the Shockers were 24-8 this past season, and won the Missouri Valley Conference championship. But they lost to TCU in the opening round of the NCAA Volleyball tournament. The Shockers are coached by Chris Lamb, who has deep Sonoma County roots. Lamb is in his 17th season at Wichita State and has guided the Shockers to their 14th-straight 20-win season this past season. Back in the late 1980s, Lamb was the coach at El Molino High, and co-founded the Empire Volleyball Club in Santa Rosa.

Lamb was succeeded at El Molino and Empire by current Sonoma State Coach Bear Grassl.

Lady Dragon Coach Chelsea Scott is an assistant at SSU under Grassl and has participated in and worked camps with Lamb at Wichita State.
