Bartolome wins SCL honors

Senior named offensive/defensive lineman of the year|

Sonoma Valley High senior Noah Bartolome was named the 2016 Sonoma County League football offensive/defensive lineman of the year.

“This is well deserved,” said Dragon Coach Bob Midgley. “Noah had an excellent senior year on both sides of the ball and had a stellar varsity football career as a Dragon.”

Not only did Bartolome play every snap on both sides of the ball this year, but he played on all the special teams as well for the past two years.

“This wasn’t the plan,” Midgley said about his stellar lineman, “it was a necessity. He was the only athlete in the program who could physically and mentally handle this duty.”

Four other Dragons were named to the SCL all-conference team.

Senior Juan Zaragoza was named to the first team offense as the kicker/punter.

Sophomore Tyler Winslow was named to the second team on both sides of the ball – as a running back on offense and as an inside linebacker on defense. Junior Rocko Wetzel was named to the second team on defense as an outside linebacker and got honorable mention as a tight end on offense. And junior David Neumann got honorable mention on defense as an inside linebacker.
