Lady thinclads sweep top four spots

The Sonoma Valley High cross country girls took the top four places and eight of the top 10 places Wednesday as the Lady Dragons handily beat Healdsburg and Rancho Cotate.

Junior Amy Stanfield led the way as the Lady Dragons scored 17 points while Healdsburg was second with 49 and Rancho third with 71.

The Dragon boys finished second in their meet. Healdsburg won with 20 points, Sonoma got 38 points while Rancho was third with 78.

In the girls meet, Stanfield won in 18 minutes, 19 seconds, sophomore Malia Cashel was second in 19:13, senior Maddy Cashel was third in 19:13.1, senior Grace Cutting was fourth in 19:25 and junior Eliza Neely was seventh in 20:22.

Only the top five places count for points. Rounding out the top 10 were junior Aliya Blinman in 20:42, senior Erica Reyes in 21:00 and junior Helena Goodman in 21:03.

In the boys race, senior Justin Cox won in 15:17, senior Loenardo Macedonio was seventh in 16:14, senior Brandon Barmore was ninth in 17:08, freshman Kahil Villias was 10th in 17:14 and senior Alex Epstein was 11th in 17:24.

The thinclads will be running in the Ragle Run in Sebastopol at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.
