The Dragon doubles team of Miles Pimentel and Ben Regoli won this year’s Sonoma County League tennis championship. In three matches on Thursday and Friday, the duo didn’t lose even a set.

The team, who went into the tournament as the top seed, on Thursday beat the team of Ray Herrera and Evan Linegap from Healdsburg, 6-1 and 6-2. On Friday, in their semi-final match, they beat Petaluma’s Hayden Dennis and Alex Dodd, 6-1 and 6-3.

In the finals Friday, Pimentel and Regoli beat the team of Jack Fricker and Sam McDonald from El Molino, 6-3 and 6-1.

While awaiting the start of the final match, Sonoma Coach Tom Byrne said Pimentel and Regoli had already beaten the team of Fricker and McDonald twice this year.

Sonoma had third-seed Matt McKale reach the semi-finals on Friday, but he lost to Petaluma’s Nathan Wong, 6-3 and 6-0, who in turn lost to top-seeded Trevor Cook of Healdsburg. The doubles team of Eric Serbicki and Elias Sosa also made it to the semi-finals, but they lost to Fricker and McDonald, 6-3 and 6-2.

The team will be playing in the North Coast Section this weekend in the East Bay.
