Dragon tracksters outrun the Hounds

Five win two individual events|

The Sonoma Valley High track teams both won Wednesday, beating the Healdsburg Greyhounds. The girls won 94-32 while the boys meet was closer at 76-44.

For the girls, both Amy Stanfield and Kiera Miles had two individual wins – Stanfield in the 800 and 1,600 meter races while Miles took firsts in the 100 and 200. Stanfield was also a part of the winning 4X400 relay team that included Trinity McGuinness, Grace Cutting and Hannah Ford-Monroe.

Ford-Monroe won the 100 meter hurdles and was also on the winning 4X100 relay team with Nashielly Canestas, Anika Ginter and Emma Maggioncalda.

Cutting won the 300 hurdles, Maggioncalda took the high jump, Christina Golubovich won the long jump while Julie Hart took the discus.

In the boys meet, Justin Cox, James Reed and Nicolas Sloop had two individual wins apiece – Cox in the 800 and 1,600, Reed in the 100 and 200, and Sloop in the high jump and triple jump. Cox was also a part of the winning 4X400 rely team with Noah Bartolome, Alexander Epstein and Reed, while Reed was also on the winning 4X100 relay team with Andrew Powers, Alonzo Heredia and Jesus Robles.

Other individual winners included Bartolome in the 400 and Travis Claeys in the 3,200.

The thinclads’ next meet is a three-way with Elsie Allen and Petaluma, Wednesday, May 4, at Petaluma. It’s a “home meet” for the Dragons, who don’t have a home track this year.
