Dragons playing holiday hoops

Sonoma’s basketball teams keep busy in area tournaments|

It’s holiday tournament time for Sonoma Valley High School’s varsity boys and girls basketball teams, while the school’s wrestling squad is on a two-week break in its mat action.

The Dragon hoops boys are playing in the Dixon Ram Jam in Dixon and faced Franklin-Stockton in the holiday tourney opener yesterday – results not available at presstime – with the tournament continuing through today and concluding tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 30.

On Jan. 5, 2016, the Sonoma boy cagers will begin Sonoma County League play hosting Elsie Allen in a 6 p.m. clash in Pfeiffer Gym.

The basketball Lady Dragons opened play in the Amethyst bracket of the annual and competitive Alameda and Contra Costa counties West Coast Jamboree yesterday – results not available at presstime – at Jesse Bethel High School in Vallejo, where their tourney games continue through today and tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 30.

After returning home to host Terra Nova at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2006, the Sonoma girls will go back on the road to begin the SCL season at Elsie Allen in Santa Rosa on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Sonoma’s wrestlers return from their holiday break on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, when they participate in the Pittsburg Tournament.

The Dragons then start their SCL dual-match season facing Piner on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Santa Rosa, before hosting their annual and popular Deets Winslow Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Pfeiffer Gym.

Following the invitational, the Dragons remain home to host three straight SCL dual matches at 6 p.m. in Golton Hall, starting with Elsie Allen on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
