Runners rule at Ragle Relays while 'polo teams tread water

The Sonoma Valley High School boys and girls cross-country teams traveled to Sebastopol on Wednesday to compete in the annual Ragle Relays, out-pacing both Windsor and Analy en route to winning both varsity races on the 4,260-meter course.

Leading the Dragon boys to their relays victory was senior Travis Claeys’ first-place finish in 14 minutes, 34.25 seconds; freshman Justin Cox’s third place in 15:23.91; junior Leonardo Macedonio’s fourth in 15:32.06; junior Angel Barcenas’ fifth in 15:59.30; junior Brandon Barmore’s 11th in 17:12.98; sophomore Cian Martin’s 15th in 17:22.01; and senior Pablo Vasquez-Cruz’s 27th in 18:34.96.

The Lady Dragon runners were led to their relays triumph by sophomore Quinn Jensen’s second-place finish in 17:29.45; senior Maddy Libbey’s third place in 17:47.92; junior Maddie Cashel’s fifth in 18:29.37; frosh Malia Cashel’s sixth in 18:41.98; junior Helena Goodman’s 10th in 19:42.83; sophomore Trinity McGuinness’ 11th in 20:22.39; and junior Jasmin Aguilar’s 18th in 22:28.34.

Tuesday at the Sonoma Aquatic Club pool, Sonoma’s water polo teams hosted Marin County Athletic League foe Redwood High, and were both boys and girls were upended.

The Dragon boys dropped a 13-3 decision to Redwood, with one goal each scored by seniors Cian Lacy and Joey Dukes, and one by sophomore Dominic Tommasi.

In their 18-3 loss to Redwood, the Lady Dragons were paced by sophomore Abby Parr’s two goals, and sophomore Grace Turner’s one goal.
